着物や帯は、着て楽しんでいただくのが一番だと思っています。
けれど、今の暮らしの中で身にまとう機会は少なくなりました。

成人式や冠婚葬祭のために大切にしまわれているもの、思い出とともにタンスに眠っているもの——。そんな着物や帯をお持ちの方も多いのではないでしょうか。

保管場所や扱いに悩み、手放したり、処分せざるを得ないこともあるかもしれません。実は、私自身も全く同じ悩みを抱えたことが、この「Lily-with Mints」を始めたきっかけでした。

着物や帯は、解けば元の一枚の布（反物）に戻ります。
昔の人は、それを仕立て直しながら、最後まで無駄にせず使い切っていました。今で言う「サステナブル」な文化が、日本の伝統には息づいています。

何でも簡単に手に入る時代だからこそ、人の手の技と心が込められた日本の文化を忘れてはいけないと感じています。

古い着物を解くたび、その織りや染め、縫いの技術の高さに感動します。機械生産では決して生まれない、二つとない美しさ。たとえ今の形には合わなくても、そのまま眠らせておくのはもったいない。だからこそ、日常で使える「世界にひとつの作品」に形を変えてお届けしています。

✨ The Concept Behind Lily-with Mints

I believe the best way to enjoy a kimono or obi is to wear it. However, in today's world, opportunities to wear them in everyday life have become rare. Many people have precious kimonos passed down through generations, quietly resting in closets alongside beautiful memories.

Unsure of how to store or care for them, some face the difficult choice of selling or letting them go. I once faced the exact same dilemma: "What should I do with the precious garments left to me?" This very question inspired me to begin my journey into kimono remake.

When a kimono is taken apart, it returns to its original form: a single roll of cloth (tanmono). In traditional Japanese life, garments were repeatedly undone and resewn to fit the wearer, wasting absolutely nothing. This was a beautiful, sustainable culture long before the word existed.

In a modern world filled with mass-produced convenience, I believe we must cherish and preserve this spirit of Japanese craftsmanship.

✨ Passing One-of-a-Kind Craftsmanship to the Future

Each time I carefully unpick an old kimono, I am deeply moved by the exquisite weaving, dyeing, and hand-sewing. Unlike machine-made products, these are true one-of-a-kind treasures. Even if they no longer suit modern clothing styles as-is, leaving them to fade away would be such a waste. That is why I transform them into practical pieces for daily life.

At Lily-with Mints, every step—from unpicking to washing, stretching (Arai-hari), and reshaping—is done entirely by hand with deep respect for the original artisans. Through this mindful process, each piece is reborn as a unique work of art.
